Our Mission
Teaching Singapore to swim since 1978
Singapore Swimming Academy has taught swimmers in Singapore since 1978. Today the academy runs a network of 400+ NROC-registered coaches across 25+ pools. We teach people of all ages, because swimming is a life skill.
Our coaches are NROC-registered and SwimSafer-certified. The academy runs learn-to-swim classes for kids, adults, ladies and SwimSafer learners, plus lifesaving courses for those who want to go further.
Water safety is part of every class. We partner with local organisations and schools on water safety education and drowning prevention.

Where are classes available?
Classes are available at public pools, selected private pools and condominium pools across Singapore, subject to coach and slot availability.
How should a new student choose a class?
Start with the swimmer, current level, preferred pool and available days. The academy team can then point you towards a practical class or coach option.
Can an adult who has never swum before start at SSA?
Yes. Most pools in the network run adult learn-to-swim classes for complete beginners. Tell the team on enquiry that the swimmer has no prior experience, and the class recommendation starts with water confidence and safer pool habits before any stroke work.
Are Singapore Swimming Academy coaches certified?
All Singapore Swimming Academy classes are taught by NROC-registered, SwimSafer-certified swimming instructors. Coaches are vetted by the academy before they teach SSA students.
How many students are in each class?
Class sizes depend on the class type and the swimmer's level. Kids group classes are typically small enough for the coach to give every swimmer individual attention each lesson. The academy can confirm class size for a specific pool, day and level on enquiry.
What if my child is nervous or scared of the water?
The academy regularly works with nervous beginners. The first lesson focuses on water confidence, safe pool habits and the coach's rapport with the child, before any stroke correction or distance work. Tell the academy on enquiry that the swimmer is nervous so the class recommendation starts with the right pace.
